Seems so strange that they would not baptise William. Well, I can't find any record of it.

TO THE REV. JOHN BOWES.-Dear Sir,
Upon the eve of your leaving this place as clergyman of the Wesleyan body in the Camden circuit, we have been deputed, at a meeting of contributors, to offer you a small testimonial of their esteem and regard. And at the same time we would state that, although our Minister, we are proud to say several persons of other religious denominations even are among the subscribers ; not to mention one or two in particular, who are men of Influence ; which must be a proof to you, if proof were wanting, that, after having lived here four years, you are about to depart generally respected.
It is with much pleasure, therefore, we enclose you a cheque for £52. And we beg to assure you, you will carry to your new sphere of usefulness our best wishes for the continued prosperity of yourself, Mrs. Bowes, and family. Wishing you a safe and prosperous journey, we have the honour to be, on behalf of the subscribers, your obedient servants,

Eliza WHITEMAN (nee FURNER) arrived in NSW 1838 from Maresfield Sussex.

Nelson arrived with WHITEMAN family from Udimore Sussex in 1839.

I doubt the families were in contact in Sussex.

But we have a marriage and they are both from Sussex.

Took me a long time to scan all the Wesleyan baptisms in Camden in 1853 but I found it. An error with the mother's name:

It has to be the right one. No other Nelson WHITEMAN with a son William that would have been baptised Wesleyan in Camden between 1851 and 1855.

It was #1643 so the entry in the index should look like this:
