According to a newspaper report he died on the 4th Dec 1875.

Mr William Whittle of Peter street died yesterday morning at his residence at the age of 91. He had been ailing for sometime but it was not until quite recently he had to take to his bed. Deceased who was born in Portland (England) had resided in Wagga for over 50 years and was a much respected member of the community and was an active worker in the connection with the Methodist Church. He leaves one son John Whittle of Qld and one daughter Mrs Mary M Johnson of Wagga, 28? Grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren. The funeral takes place this morning at 10.30 in the Methodist portion of the Wagga Cemetery. Messrs Hoye and Colbeck are the undertakers in charge.

The death at Gatton on October 16 of Mr. John Cady Whittle removed one of the oldest pioneers, of the Lockyer. Bom at Portland, Dorsetshire, England, just over 90 years ago, he came to Australia in the sailing ship Anna Maria, at the age of 18 years. After working in New South Wales for a number of years he came to Queensland, and ultimately to Gatton in 1875, when the township consisted of only a few buildings. From 1877 he carried on the business of a blacksmith, retiring in 1888. Mrs. Whittle predeceased him nearly 30 years ago. The late Mr. Whittle is survived by two sons, Messrs. Edward Whittle (Gatton) and William Whittle (Forest Hill), and a daughter, Mrs. A. Murry (Gatton).

I didn't have two of those obits.

It's the right marriage. Strange how the branch of the Loiterton family that moved to Queensland used a different spelling of the name.

John Smith is a problem.

Empire Wed 21 Oct 1874 – cleared of insolvency after expenses paid.

Keysel most common in Shropshire and Lancs.
