still researching WAIGHTS relatives, and found on Nat Archives website that several had left wills. When did wills first become legal documents in England? And from when did they first become registered? And why are there only a few on the website?Does this mean that most of my relations didn't make wills or were those that survived, above a certain amount of money?am puzzled....

Before 1858 wills were proved in a multitude of local church courts. Death Duty Registers record wills. i have a list of various websites which i can search through if you want.
