Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me track down my mother's father James Wilson? I know that he worked on the Titanic as a rivetor or so legend has it and then moved to England (Peckham area) where he married Lillian Keable in 1917.

I also know that he had a sister called Sally who worked in hotels but that's all.

Many thanks Lisa

Hi Dave,

thanks for the reply. It's a common name and the info I have is very limited sadly. If he worked on the Titanic and was then married in England he must have moved here between 1911 and 1915 I guess.

My mother seemed to think that he may have got into a few fights in Ireland so there might be some police records but without his address I am not sure how I could be sure it was him.

I am sorry for the confusion. My gandfather was one of the men who built the Titanic but never sailed on her but thank you so much for the facinating link. I really enjoyed looking at it although it is really sad when you think about it.

I don't think there are any records available for the builders at least I haven't found any yet.

Regards Lisa

Harland & Wolff have deposited many of their old papers with PRONI. If you search the PRONI website you’ll find about 450 documents/bundles of documents relating to the company. The following PRONI references appear on their site: D2910 D2805 D3050 T3730. Whether those contain details of the staff in 1910/11 I can’t say but might be worth investigating.
