I took a look at the Birmingham marriages on Ancestry and FMP but the marriage didn't appear. In the 1901 census one Samuel will be 11 years old and the other one will only be four, therefore we still don't know which one married Alice.
I think you will need to send for the marriage certificate, this is the reference

hi thats sounds like my grandad a Samuel Witherington married my nan Alice Prout they lived off summer lane for years in Prichard street bought up 10 children my mom Irene was the eldest they moved to Perry common just before the 2 war we lived around the corner most of the family did Alice Prout my lovely nan traced her family they could be Cornish. glad to help mike
