Hi. I'm new to this site so apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place. I have been doing both mine and my husband's family trees for about 9 months now. I have found the basic core of both trees and am now trying to flesh my relatives lives out a little. I have found a few of my relatives either spent time or ended their lives in the workhouses. Most notably Newington workhouse. I would love to understand why my ancestors ended up in such a notorious place and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction to finding workhouse records such as admission papers?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Many Thanks.
