It depends what you have in mind. I'm writing about my husbands family from late 1700s to 1918 at present and what I wanted to do was plot alongside the details I collected about them is what was going on economically, politically and trends in occupations as well as details about the occupations they had. My husbands family were from Lincolnshire but within a matter of a few years they had all left and gone to West Riding of Yorkshire. I wondered why they did that and have got hooked ever since. I go on Ebay for old books about the areas they lived in and there are also a number of good websites about Victorian life. Is that what you are after?
