Hi All,
I have a bit of a conundrum on the marriage cert of Bertram Bramley who was married in Wandsworth on 29th April 1889.
His father is listed as Pasquel Bramley not Edward Herbert Bramley that I have in my tree, his brother Joseph Bramley is a witness on the cert.
His father is not with the family in 1881, he is in Lambeth while the mother and 2 sons are in Battersea.
So is he just being awkward and not putting his fathers name on his marriage or is there another explanation!

Peter

Does Bertram state his age, and I take it you have found him on subsequent censuses, you have him in 1881, have you found him in 1871?

Was there maybe 2 Bertram Bramley's, first cousins or something? I have found many such cases in my family tree.

Yes that's the one Amanda.
Everything else fits although never actually found Bertrum's birth details.
The other odd thing is he keeps getting extra names or initials, on electroral rolls he sometimes has Bertrum V E Bramley, Victor B E Bramley and on his probate it says Victor Emanual Bertrum Bramley all with same address!
Just cannot believe a lot of what they put down!

I don't think it is worth my while as its a bit far removed from my actual family line - sister in law - so only of passing interest - interesting all the same.

All my direct family seem to be dead ends or Smith family!:'(
