Hi,my dad was born in Astley in 1903,he and his brother were sent to Canada in 1913 via Dr Barnardos.I cannot find out what happened to his siblings who I am sure stayed in England,I've looked at the death records but found nothing,I'm at a complete loss as what to do next.Any advice would be great.I've listed the children and their parents below.

Ernest 1890(I do know he crossed into Americain 1916)
Sam 1894
Joe 1895
Percy 1898
Alice 1900
Ethel 1904
All the children were taken into care in 1904 when their mother Ellen died and their invalid father Peter could not look after them. Thanks. Sue.

Hi Elusive,

Could this be Peters death registration!

1909
Oct/Nov/Dec 1/4
District Leigh
County Greater Manchester, Lancashire
Peter Yates
Born abt 1869

There are other Peter Yates but this one was nearest to his year of birth.

If it is him perhaps the children stayed in the same area!

Hi,have looked at the cwgc but without knowing a service number or parentage you don't know if you're looking at the right one.I do have attestation papers and a medal roll entry for Sam but that doesn't tell me if he survived the war.It is certainly the right death notice for Peter and maybe Sam,Joe and Percy did stay in the area, the fact that they were taken into care makes it so much harder to trace them. They had 3 sisters,I do know what happened to Harriet but Alice and Ethel have remained elusive. Thanks for your advice.
