Help with dating some photos please.

Hi everyone.

I think this 1st photo is a photo of my great grandmother who was born in 1910 but I am not 100% sure. The photo is not postcard backed. I know those began to take off in the UK in about 1910 so if this is a photo of my great grandmother, she looks about 1 or 2 in the photo so is it possible that this could be a late non-postcard backing.

The 2nd photo is this photo of a man who I have no clue what the relation was. I think it’s Victorian but otherwise, I have no clue.

If anyone can please help me with working out an approximate time period for these photos, that would be greatly appreciated.

HI,

The photo of the child looks to be Edwardian not able to give a definite year.
Can you post the address thats on the back of the gentlemans photo. The photographer Godfrey Allen born 1854 Kings Lynn Norfolk is living in Bristol in 1881, he is at various addresses throughout the censuses, the address on the back of the gentleman's photo might help to whittle down when it was taken.

Godfrey Allen is in Norwich Norfolk in 1891, son Oswald born 1888 Bristol. Looks like its the Bristol area pre 1891.

Thanks @juliejtp that’s really helpful. So the photo was taken sometime in the late to mid 1880s.

It looks like it, but it may be because the person is older and his attire, I was wondering if it was taken earlier and this is a reprint. Found this on the National Portrait Gallery of another photo taken by Godrey.
