Hi all,

Seems that the interest in researching and delving into DNA is not being made , well on here at least.

I remember some years ago Ancestry offered a free DNA test to various advertising partners of which FHUK was one.

I got the results back basically that the Hallams were European and originates from north Africa Egypt/Israel region and obviously my blood type with further information!

I expected more and I think I could of told them! A bit deflated and still am!

Has anyone done it of late is it much better nowadays?

Let us know. Jury's still out!👍

I never really considered a DNA test. I fleetingly looked into it. As far as I can tell, the only way to pair up the same DNA, it has to be held into a database, for people to match to.
And if there is match, the results are usually something like 5th of 6 th cousins. So then, you need a paper trail to find the connection.
The DNA test will let you know, I think, the origins of what percentage connects the country of origins. Like, 20% Dutch, 10% Irish, 40% Spanish etc etc.

What I do know, my wifes blood group is more common in China, than England, where she was born.

I've not considered it. I doubt it would help me re my brick walls = no baptisms exist or have survived that would allow me to go further back.

One quarter English, one quarter Scottish, one quarter Irish and one quarter German.

I have done my DNA, but sadly to date it hasn't helped find a way through my brick walls. It has found many 4 th cousins. Finding a connection to these cousins is also very difficult as the majority have no tree to connect with or aren't using their birth names but rather some made up name.. How would I think I was connected to someone called redmist26? lol However DNA did pop up a few questions around one of my Great Great Uncle.. Hopefully in months or years to come something will pop up that connects me to my Brick Wall.
